Dr Madelaine Smith has over 20 years’ experience of working with children and families in various educational and childcare settings including in mainstream schools, special schools, and within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).  Madelaine has been practising as an Educational Psychologist since 2013 and has worked across three Local Education Authorities (Hertfordshire, Essex and Suffolk).  Prior to becoming an Educational Psychologist, Madelaine worked as a Teacher for The Hope Service in Surrey.

Madelaine specialises in supporting children and young people with an Acquired Brain Injury. She currently works as an Educational Psychologist at the Cambridge Centre for Paediatric Neuropsychological Rehabilitation – a community-based service offering assessment and neuropsychological rehabilitation for children with an acquired, non-progressive brain injury as a result of an accident, injury, illness or other condition.

In private practice, Madelaine works as a treating and expert witness Educational Psychologist for children and young people with an Acquired Brain Injury. Madelaine also completes educational psychology assessments, as part of the statutory assessment process for Education, Health and Care Plans, for Suffolk County Council.

Madelaine is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Association of Educational Psychologists.

  • Master of Science in Clinical Paediatric Neuropsychology (MSc, University College London)
  • Master of Philosophy in Perspectives on Special and Inclusive Education (MPhil , University of Cambridge) 
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE-PCET, Birmingham City University)
  • Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BSc, Royal Holloway, University of London)
